Lenny Kravitz, the singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, actor, arranger and photographer, takes pictures of the crowd during the opening of his exhibition that features photos published in his book “Flash,” at the headquarters of German camera manufacturer Leica in Wetzlar, some 60 kms (36 mls) north of Frankfurt, June 23. -
Horn blowing contest
At the German hunting horn championship at Kranichstein castle, some 40 kms (24 mls) south of Frankfurt, June. Some 110 hunting horn groups and 1700 musicians from all over Germany are taking part in this two-day event. -
The traditional Bakery
Richard Kling in his bakehouse at Frankfurt’s Sachsenhausen district where I visited him last night. Kling usually works at least six days a week from midnight until 7.00 am. Traditional bakeries like this one are a dying trade – in 1975 some 300 independent bakeries were registered in Frankfurt. Today, only 18 are left. -
The Red Dot (Home of Leica)
Last week, I was on a job in Wetzlar, a town some 60 kms (36 mls) north of Frankfurt, and happened to drive past the headquarters of Leica, Germany’s last camera manufacturer to speak of. I decided to stop and pay a short visit to their showroom, exhibition and museum.
