A spiral staircase inside the building of the social ministry of the state of Hesse in Wiesbaden. Today, the building that was erected between 1952 and 1955 is regarded as an oustanding example of post-war modern architecture of the 1950s in Germany.

Canoeing on the Lahn
Three people in a canoe on Lahn river near Weilburg, some 65 kms (40 mls) north of Frankfurt, Aug.25. According to a local tourism board ‘a canoe trip on the Lahn River is one of the most relaxing ways to enjoy the Mittelhessen [the central part of the federal state of Hesse] countryside’ which is probably true.
