This would be your view of Frankfurt if you had between 1 and 5 million euros or dollars to spare and were willing to spend it on an appartment in the new Henninger Turm building that is being erected at the city’s southern Sachsenhausen district on the site of the former Henninger brewery.
Frankfurt’s Alte Oper (Old Opera House), built between 1873 and 1880, is seen from above on a gray and hazy day, Feb.12. In 1937, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana was performed here for the first time. The building was almost completely destroyed by allied bombs in 1944. In the 1970s it was slowly rebuilt and eventually reopened in 1981. Alte Oper is now a concert hall.
