People gather in front of Frankfurt’s Old Opera house, Mar. 18, in a rally marking the end of a day of protests following the official opening of the new headquarters of the European Central Bank. The protesters in this picture presumably mainly belong to the large group of Italians that took part, burning flares in the Italian Tricolore colors (green, white and red).

Police block a street near the new headquarters of the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt, Mar. 17, one day before the building will officially be inaugurated. The event is expected to draw some 10,000 anti-austerity protesters, mainly being part of the Blockupy alliance. Thousands of police officers will oversee the event.
