A Dark Exhibition
Visitors at an exhibition by Martin Parr and Wassink Lundgren named “The Chinese Photobook” as part of the annual Recontres d’Arles photo festival in Arles, southern France, July 15. Rooms in an office block were dimly lit in red light. Visitors were given torches to view hundreds of photobooks on display.
Colorful Castle
Spectators stand in the courtyard of Schloss Johannisburg castle in Aschaffenburg, Bavaria, some 50 kms (30 mls) east of Frankfurt, April 3, while the 400 year-old walls of the Renaissance building are colorfully illuminated by light artist Ingo Bracke.
Lágrimas de São Pedro
Old lightbulbs filled with water hang from the ceiling of a building at Frankfurt’s Palmengarten botanical garden, March 31, as part of the annual Luminale light festival. The installation by Vinicius Silva de Almeida of Brazil is named ‘Lágrimas de São Pedro’ (The Tears of Saint Peter).
Turning Water into Light
A visitor aims his little water pistol at an installation named ‘Splashlights’, one of the many objects on display throughout the city during the annual ‘Luminale’ light festival in Frankfurt, March 30. ‘Splashlights’, created by students of the Ilmenau (Germany) university, consists of some 20.000 LEDs that are switched on upon contact with water.
Sky Lamp
A street lamp in front the sky shortly after sunset in Chipude, La Gomera, Canary Islands, March 16. The small village is situated high above most other settlements of the island near the Garajonay national park.

Working Late
Lights are still on in many offices at Frankfurt’s financial district, Jan.29. I have no idea if people are still working this late, pretend to be working or if they just forgot to switch off the lights.
Goethe’s Laurel Wreath
The bronze statue of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe with its laurel wreath at Goethe square in Frankfurt, Jan.28. The German writer, poet, polymath, etc. was born in Frankfurt in 1749. The Goethe House and the Goethe Museum can be visited on the site of his birthplace.
