Madonna in Frankfurt 1987

After purchasing a simple JJC reproduktion device I just took a few frames of old negatives that I shot in 1987 when Madonna performed in Frankfurt. I remember taking these pictures was pretty difficult as none of the accredidated media were aware that we had to shoot from about a hundred meters away from the stage. I was probably the only one who brought that enormous Nikon 600mm telephoto lens. Of course, those were analogue times and I used Fuji 1600 color negative film which even had to be pushed at least one stop. The quality is accordingly bad. These photos weren’t published before.

Reproductions taken with a Sony A7r IV and FE 2.8/50 Macro lens.

The Old Opera House

Frankfurt’s Alte Oper (Old Opera House), built between 1873 and 1880, is seen from above on a gray and hazy day, Feb.12. In 1937, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana was performed here for the first time. The building was almost completely destroyed by allied bombs in 1944. In the 1970s it was slowly rebuilt and eventually reopened in 1981. Alte Oper is now a concert hall.

The Guitar Maker
