November 11 is the feast day of St. Martin of Tours (France), who started out as a Roman soldier and later became a monk. In one legend about his life he once cut his cloak in half and shared it with a beggar during a snowstorm.

The Matthäuskirche (St. Mattews Church) among highrise buildings in Frankfurt, Aug.30. The building has been up for demolition and sale in a disputed decision by church authorities since 2002, but no investor has been found since. Latest plans see the church not pulled down but integrated in a new complex of buildings.
