Thistle Stadium
Thistles grow on the grandstand of the Boellenfalltor soccer stadium in Darmstadt, south of Frankfurt, July 10. Despite the stadium’s run-down state the local soccer club Darmstadt 98 made it into Germany’s second league, or 2. Bundesliga. Renovation of the old arena is now mandatory for obtaining a licence from the German soccer federation.
World Cup Watchers

Last week, I had to take pictures of a man found guilty of organizing one of the massacres in the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.
I was reminded of a journey that took me to the country a couple of years ago, leaving also a lot of positive memories. This shot that I found in my archives shows a boy playing soccer on the outskirts of Rwanda’s capital Kigali with a self-fabricated ball, wearing an old Colorado Buffaloes sweatshirt.
