The moon appears behind a statue at Frankfurt’s Paulsplatz square, Sep. 28., during a rare astronomical event in which the moon has appeared to redden in the night’s sky – a so-called blood moon, being the result of a combination of an eclipse with the closest full moon of the year.
A Boeing 767 (hope I got this right) of Kazakhstan’s Air Astana airline (above) and an ancient Antonov AN II biplane near Frankfurt airport, Sep. 2. A 600 mm telephoto lens makes this seem closer and a lot more dangerous than it actually was.

The half moon in the night sky over Frankfurt, Aug. 15.
A Lufthansa Boeing 747 passes the full moon over Frankfurt, June 22. This weekend, the moon makes its closest approach to the Earth of the year. What you need for a photo like this is a long lens, a lot of patience, a lot of luck, a balcony in the right place and a beer. Cheers!
