Apples that so far survived the rather mild winter hang on a tree at Frankfurt’s northern Bergen district, Feb.18. I tried one and have to say that they are still quite tasty. I love apples (well, and bananas…).

Warm Winter – Early Bee
A bee in search for pollen among crocuses at Frankfurt’s Lohrberg hill, Feb. 16.. Winter in this part of Germany has been unusually mild so far and bees are swarming out very early.

Signs of Spring
Snowdrops in the evening light in a garden in my neighborhood, Feb.9. These are about the first signs of spring – although there hasn’t been any real winter here yet.
Off to Sochi
The outline of a skier is stuck to a window of Frankfurt’s airport, Feb.4, while a Lufthansa plane ( in retro design) rolls back before taking off to the winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Aboard was the greater part of the German Olympic team.

A late rose bloom is covered with frost in the morning hours of Nov.27 in Frankfurt.
Frosty Rime
