Frankfurt’s 116-meter university tower comes down in a blast, Feb.2. The tower was built in 1972 and demolished 42 years later using some 950 kilograms of explosives. It was one of the biggest such operations in Europe.

Fair Tower
Frankfurt’s Fair Tower (Messeturm), seen through the branches of a tree (and from my balcony :-)) at sunset, Nov.11. Between 1991 and 1997, the 256 meter-high (840 ft) tower was the highest office building in Europe, which now I believe is the Mercury City Tower in Moscow (338 meters, 1110 ft).
