
A tuba player of the HR Symphonieorchster (Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra) gets ready for playing in front of Gerhard Richter’s 1967 painting named “Großer Vorhang” (Big Curtain) during a ceremony marking the 200th anniversary of Frankfurt’s renowned Staedel museum, March 15. A grand public celebration was held with a diverse program and free admission for everyone.

Dagmar Westberg stands beside a painting named “Saint James the Greater” (1615) by Jusepe de Ribera at Frankfurt’s Städel museum, Dec.4. The philanthropist turns 100 years old on Dec.8 and on the occasion donates the (very) valuable painting to the museum.

Onlookers stand on the Holbeinsteg, a pedestrian bridge over river Main to watch the fireworks that concluded the three-day ‘Museumsuferfest’ (Museum Embankment Festival) in Frankfurt, Aug.31. Some 2.6 million visitors flocked to the river banks for one of Germany’s most colorful open-air festivals.
