An inside view of the catholic cathedral in Limburg, some 70 kms (42 mls) northwest of Frankfurt, taken Feb.19. The building in late Romanesque style is located on a rock above the old town and is visible from far away. Construction began around 1190, consecration was in 1235.

Expensive Residence
The bishop’s residence in Limburg, some 70 kms (42 mls) northwest of Frankfurt, taken early in the morning, Feb.19. According to media reports, bishop Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst (dubbed the “bling bishop”) spent more than 31 million euros (42 million dollars) on renovating his official residence, causing quite some scandal, not only among catholics. The Pope suspended him in October 2013 with further investigations still underway.

A former mayor of a city in Rwanda sits in a coutroom in Frankfurt, Feb.18, shortly before being sentenced to 14 years in jail for organizing one of the massacres in the 1994 genocide. This was was the first case heard in Germany related to the genocide in Rwanda.
